Karen Shoniker brings extensive experience and passion to her role as an instructor in the School of Academic Upgrading & Development at Selkirk College. While teaching and serving as the Math Department Head at a high school in Whistler, Karen developed an understanding of the British Columbia curriculum and the challenges faced by high school students. This background equips her to effectively support students transitioning into higher education.

At Selkirk College, Karen is dedicated to helping students overcome academic challenges and rekindle their love for learning. Her engaging teaching style and ability to connect with students create an encouraging and supportive learning environment. She believes that with the right mindset and support, any student can achieve their educational goals.

Karen moved to the Kootenays for its unique community spirit and natural beauty. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, beach outings and relaxing with a good book. The family-oriented atmosphere of the Kootenays has made it an ideal place for her to thrive both personally and professionally.
