Andrea has been at Selkirk College since 1999 and has been working as an Adult Upgrading instructor at the Nakusp Learning Centre since 2008.

Andrea grew up in Germany, and after finishing high school went to study at Selkirk College, where she completed a Liberal Arts and Science Diploma in 1996. She went on to the University of British Columbia and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English 1999. Afterward, Andrea started working part-time at Selkirk College in various positions before she became a learning skills instructor at the Castlegar Campus. She completed a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gonzaga University in 2003. In 2008 Andrea became an Academic Upgrading instructor at the Nakusp Learning Centre, and she completed the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program in 2014.

The supportive attitude of the instructors while being a student at Selkirk College inspired Andrea to be in a role where she could similarly help students to achieve their goals. Andrea found that she gravitated to positions that allowed her to work with students individually or in small groups and found these circumstances to maximize her effectiveness. Andrea has been participating in the provincial articulation working group for Education and Career Planning since 2015. Her love of learning and curriculum design have led her to participate in numerous projects and course creations at the institutional and provincial level.

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys the outdoors of the beautiful Kootenay region. She particularly likes foraging for mushrooms and is always curious about birds, plant and rocks she encounters on her walks.
