Lucas joined the School of Environment & Geomatics and the School of University Arts & Sciences in 2024. He teaches a variety of courses in the fields of biology and wildlife ecology.
Prior to working at Selkirk College, Lucas completed a BSc at the University of British Columbia in Ecology & Environmental Sciences. He specialized in tropical ecosystems and completed an undergraduate thesis studying hummingbird species in the Amazon. Lucas then completed a PhD at Stanford University and spent several years studying the ecological cascades initiated by hunting in the Congo Basin rainforest.
