Selkirk College values lifelong learning for all employees and recognizes their need and desire to pursue excellence through professional development. Professional development initiatives provide employees with opportunities for personal and professional growth and development, and contribute to the overall success of the College and its students.
The Human Resources Division offers professional development opportunities throughout the year that promote career development and success in the workplace. We are always looking for new staff development ideas and welcome suggestions!
Employee Professional Development (PD) Funds
Professional development (PD) opportunities may be employer directed or self directed – through available PD funds relevant to your bargaining unit. The process and criteria for accessing these funds however, differs among employee groups. For information regarding your eligibility for PD funds contact your employee group PD representative.

Selkirk College Discovery Day
Discovery Day is an annual professional development event hosted by the College, intended to provide all Selkirk employees with an opportunity to recharge and refresh! Discovery Day is a full day event featuring a wide variety of learning and networking opportunities, a keynote speaker and an evening social.
The 2011 Discovery Day, "The Heart of Selkirk", is scheduled for February 14, 2011 - mark your calendars!
