NSERC Grant

Selkirk College successfully applied for and received $199,000 over 2 years under the College and Community Innovation Grant program through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council (NSERC) grant process.

The funds will not only build applied research capacity at Selkirk College, but will support the regional forest sector which is currently experiencing a protracted downturn. The project focuses on the development of prototype applications that allow local small and medium forest enterprises to access, evaluate and analyze data and tools to get into emerging forest carbon markets.

The multi-year project goal is the development and deployment of several potentially transferable and commercializable decision-support tools for forest carbon management (FCM).
