Working in partnership with post-secondary institutions, industry and government

Memorandum of Understanding

In the past year, leaders from the College of the Rockies, Okanagan College, University of British Columbia Okanagan, Thompson Rivers University and Selkirk College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that links the institutions in the creation of a better integration of the learning opportunities and services for citizens of the Southern Interior.

It is believed that these institutions working together can provide their communities with access to a much broader range of program and service opportunities.

TeckServ program

Selkirk believes that partnerships with regional industries can also benefit students in a very direct way. A current example is the establishment of the TeckServ program. This initiative, funded by a $75,000 gift from Teck Metals Ltd. Trail Operation, will provide service learning experience for students while at the same time benefitting the communities in which they carry out approved projects.

USCC

The College has entered partnerships with local organizations whose missions and values align with those of Selkirk. One such organization is the Union of Spiritual Communities of Christ (USCC). In 2009-2010, the USCC and Selkirk College signed an agreement to work together in building cultures of peace—creating a bridge of intent and practical activity between the two organizations.
