She does not seek moments to be brilliant; those moments just arrive. We are extremely fortunate to be hosting such an amazing talent.”
Bowering was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Victoria, BC. She has lived in the United States, Greece, Scotland, Spain and Canada, and now makes her home in Sooke, British Columbia. She is a Professor in the Creative Writing and Journalism Department at Vancouver Island (Malaspina) University in British Columbia, and has also taught at the University of Victoria and as a Writer-in-Residence at many institutions. Her work has been translated into Punjabi, Spanish, Italian, German, Finnish and Greek. She has read her work and been a guest at festivals around the world.
Join Marilyn Bowering for a free public reading on Friday, Sept 26 at the Selkirk College Mir Centre for Peace at 12:00 pm and from 1:00 - 2:30 pm for a writing workshop. Those interested in the workshop are asked to pre-register with Almeda Glenn Miller.
