Castlegar Rotarians Make Generous Contribution to Selkirk College

Castlegar Rotarians Doreen Smecher (left) and president Gerry Rempel (far right) donate a cheque for $2,500 to Selkirk College donor services coordinator Joyce Buckler, director of communications and development Barry Auliffe and president Marilyn Luscombe. Selkirk College matched the amount, bringing the total donation to $5,000, which will increase the Castlegar Sunrise 2000 Rotary Club Scholarship to $1,000 from $800. The scholarship is awarded annually to a first-year associate of arts or sciences student who returns for a second year of study and demonstrates "service above self" as a volunteer in his or her community.
