Mir Lecture Series Successfully Launches Campaign

On September 21, 2009, Selkirk College celebrated the United Nations’ International Day of Peace and the launch of the Mir Centre for Peace Lecture Series Endowment Campaign. Featured speakers included John Verigin Jr., Executive Director of the Union of Spiritual Communities of Christ, and Dr. Duncan Grady, Instructor of Health & Human Services at Selkirk College. Performances by the Vision of Peace Choir and the corazón vocal ensemble (above) were also enjoyed. To date, the campaign has raised $37,550 of its $200,000 goal. Funds raised will go directly into the Mir Centre Speaker Series Endowment. The annual return on the endowment investment will help support the Lecture Series for years to come.
