JJ Verigin Supports Mir Lecture Series

At the recent “Evening at the Mir”, Executive Director of the Union of Spiritual Communities of Christ (USCC), JJ Verigin (right), presented a cheque on behalf of his family for $500 to Campaign Chair, Peter Rezansoff (left). The donation will be put towards Selkirk College’s Mir Centre Lecture Series Endowment Campaign which will ultimately help sustain the Lecture Series and will support the Mir Centre’s mandate to understand and build cultures of peace through learning. Verigin noted that his donation was more like “an investment towards ensuring a peaceful, secure, world for future generations” and challenged the members of the USCC and the wider Doukhobour community to match his donation of $100 per family member. To date, the campaign has raised $42,170 of its $200,000 goal set for March 31, 2010.
