Saints Challenge Defending Champs
The Selkirk College men’s volleyball team played with focus, drive and passion against the defending BCCAA champions Friday and Saturday Nov 13, 14. The Camosun College Chargers had to pull out all the stops to win the matches with 3-1 on Friday (25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 25-20) and 3-1 on Saturday (20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18).
The younger Saints pushed the more experienced opponent in all facets of the match. Un-timely, youthful unforced errors were the difference. “The good news is these errors are under our control and we can make some adjustments that will reduce those errors. Being able to outscore in earned points (116 – 85) an opponent as strong as Camosun is a fantastic result for us. It shows we are on the right path,” comments Mike Perra, Head coach.
Saints Notables: Tory Zaytsoff – 31 kills, Phil Audet-Gariepy – 11 blocks, Griffin Beauregard – 23 digs
The Saints next action is against Columbia Bible College Nov 20, 21 at the Castlegar Campus gymnasium. The Saints split the season matchup last year so this will be a very good contest.
