Selkirk Saints Scholarships and Awards

The Selkirk Saints are pleased to offer several scholarships and awards for high-level student athletes.

Scholarships

Recruitment Scholarships

Recruitment scholarships are available for men’s hockey. Awards are established based on team need, player caliber and past player achievements.

Recruitment Entrance Awards – up to six awards of $1500

Applications for these awards are available online or at the admissions office. This scholarship is awarded to students graduating from any high school within the college region. The student athlete must have participated in high school sports while holding a minimum 75% average in core courses. Reference letters from a coach(es) must be received with application.

Athletic Program Scholarship - two awards of $350

This award is presented to a high ranking student (minimum GPA 3.00) who participates in Saints Athletics and is active in athletic fundraising and other athletic department activities. Preference will be given to a student returning to Selkirk College to continue participation in athletics.

Jim Snook Memorial Award $100

This award is presented to a student dedicated to college athletics. The recipient will possess a good sense of fair play, contribute to positive team spirit and morale, and be dedicated to sport and team objectives.

General Awards

Most Valuable Player

This award is given to the student-athlete who is regarded as the player on the team who has the most impact during competition. This player has outstanding skills and consistently contributes to team success. The recipient should also possess strong qualities such as attitude, character, leadership and work ethic.

Most Dedicated Player

This award is given to the student-athlete who constantly strives to be an asset to the team and who is always working towards improving their skills. The recipient is usually present at nearly all practices and games, has a very strong work ethic, positive attitude and is very dependable.

Saints Award

This award is given to the student-athlete who has shown the most amount of growth throughout the season and the most honorable improvement. This is also an award given to someone who deserves to be recognized for a significant achievement over the season.

Athlete of the Year (Male and Female) – Two awards of $300

This award is presented to a student demonstrating outstanding athletic performance. The recipient will be recognized for their Selkirk College team participation, as well as dedication/leadership/academic performance.
