Changes to Natural Resource Professional Registration in BC | Information Session with the College of Applied Biology
Important changes to natural resources sector will impact future graduates of environmental programs in BC.
In November 2018, the BC Provincial Government passed new legislation (Professional Governance Act) that will require mandatory registration with a self-regulating professional organization if individuals plan to take responsibility for applied biology work in the natural
- In BC, the College of Applied Biology is the legislated self-regulating professional organization that is mandated to oversee the profession of applied biology (biologists, technologists, and technicians).
- As early as 2020, biologists and biology technologists that work in this sector will be required to register as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) or a Registered Biology Technologist (RBTech).
- As someone new to the profession, you will be required to meet the credentialing standards for entry into the profession – so please consider attending this important information session.
Derek Marcoux, RPBio - Registrar and Director of Compliance with the College of Applied Biology - will be on campus to discuss the role of CAB, the impacts of the new Professional Governance Act, and entrance requirements for registration.
