Create a Chance by Taking a Chance.
Join us on September 26, 2015 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm for a Mir Centre for Peace fundraising dinner. This fundraiser is to help support international students to participate. Your presence will help us! You get a meal, a ticket to the Mir lecture...and you get the chance to win an electric Bike!
Selkirk College is helping broaden the scope of peace by offering a new program this coming January that is the first of its kind in Canada. In partnership with Nonviolent Peaceforce, the one-semester Unarmed Civilian Peacekeeping Program will prepare students to work in volatile situations around the globe in an effort to reduce violence using strategic tactics of nonviolence. An important element of this program is to provide financial support for an international student who otherwise could not afford the program.
We would like to invite you to an exciting evening that will raise funds for a special bursary to include an international element to the program. We have invited 144 people to this special dinner. Dinner includes a delicious meal of homemade borsch and a ticket to the Ntahuba Parfaite lecture that evening at 7 pm. Each person (or one person per couple) will draw a number between 1 and 144. Your number determines the tax deductible donation you will be requested to make—if you draw 1, you donate $1 and if draw 144, you donate $144. Everything in between will help it add up to more than $10,000 for the bursary! There will also be a special draw for a Wave Electric Bike amongst the 144 participants.
RSVP is necessary to reserve your seat for this unique and memorable evening. If you are coming as a couple, one person will make the donation draw and the second person will pay $25 for their dinner and lecture. To RSVP, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
