Rural Pre-Medicine Welcome Week

A warm welcome to new students in the Rural Pre-Medicine (RPM) Program! Please join us for a week of program-specific orientation, activities and learning on the Castlegar Campus to kick off the academic year. To learn more about Selkirk College, visit our new student checklist.

Welcome with Elder Murhi-Iskwew, Indigenous Health and Healing instructor Elizabeth Ferguson, and Indigenous student navigator Rodney Noskiye.

10:30–11:30 am, Mir Centre for Peace

Jonathan Vanderhoek and Takaia Larsen, RPM program coordinators, will provide an introduction to the design and goals of the program and what students can expect for the coming year.

A walkthrough of the fall timetable and RPM Moodle Site with math instructor Kerri Webb.

A workshop on time management and resiliency with psychology instructor Helen Peel.

10:30 am–12 pm, Sentinel 102

Representatives from a variety of Selkirk College services will visit and give a brief presentation.

Join local medical professionals for a discussion and Q & A about their path to medical school and life as a rural doctor.

10:30–11:30 am, Sentinel 102

A frank discussion of what college life and learning is really like. Some second- and third-year RPM students will join us to help answer any questions you may still have.
