301 Frank Beinder Way, Castlegar BC, V1N 4L3, Canada
I grew up in Castlegar, but was born in Ft. St. John, B.C. My parents encouraged me to be active and so I took up downhill skiing at an early age and participated in many other sports. After graduating with a BA from UBC, I worked as a researcher but longed to be outdoors so I returned to UBC and completed a Bachelor of Forestry. I then became an RPF (Registered Professional Forester) and worked in many parts of the province as an employee of industry and government but eventually created my own consulting company.
I spent a year travelling around the world and then returned home to start a family. More recently I travelled with the College to Vietnam, and Guatemala, and am interested in providing an international experience to students. I completed a Master of Arts – Integrated Studies (focus: Global Change). My position at Selkirk College allows me to draw upon my many years working in forestry and other related environmental fields throughout the province, to share stories of real life experiences with my students and to learn with them and from them.
