“When people ask me what my 'job' is I say, ‘Job? What job?’ I get to hang out with 100 other musicians all eager to learn, play, share and talk about music all day!" —Darren Mahe, School of the Arts Program Coordinator

I received my Bachelors of Music and Education from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and have studied classical guitar, composition and Chinese music. I’ve travelled extensively across Western Canada performing in rock clubs and have opened for acts such as Trooper, Prism, Haywire, Kickaxe and Great White.

My current rock project in Vancouver is writing and recording music for film and a future CD. As a member of the accapella 24-voice chamber ensemble ŒLaudate¹ I’ve performed with members of the CBC Vancouver Orchestra and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra. The group released two CDs and performed a live CBC radio broadcast. I’ve also performed on the Chines instrument sanxion (fretless lute) and ruan (moon guitar) opening the BC Chines Music Orchestra, and as guest with the Hwa Sheng Chines opera in Seattle, Washington.
