I began teaching in the Selkirk International Post-graduate Nurse Gerontology Program and the Domestic Gerontology program in January 2017. It has been an incredible experience to have the opportunity to combine both my career passions of teaching and nursing. I first obtained my bachelor of education 17 years ago and taught in both the USA and overseas. Later, I went back to school and graduated with my BSN from the University of Alberta. I’ve nursed for the past ten years in Labour and Delivery, Health Services for Community Living, Home Health, and Residential Care. I’m currently working on my thesis on Palliative Education to complete my MSN. I absolutely love working with the students and staff at Selkirk!
Moving to the Kootenays has also fed my personal passions of spending time with family, who live in Washington, and spending hours and hours in the beautiful mountains with my husband and three children. I love living life to the fullest and my sense of adventure has always kept me trying new things!
