For over 25 years I worked as a General Manager\Chief Operating Officer in the golf and country club industry in Canada and the United States before starting my own consulting business in the field of Club Management. As a consultant, I’ve been working with private, semi-private, corporate, resort and municipally-owned golf clubs.
During my working career as a professional golf and country club manager, I worked in full-service private member-owned golf and country clubs and specifically managed the Essex Golf and Country Club, The London Hunt and Country Club, and Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Canada. I was also fortunate enough to have a contract in Sarasota, Florida where I managed a busy 36-hole residential club called Palm-Aire Country Club. In 1998 I had the honour of being selected as “Club Manager of the Year” in Canada through the Canadian Society of Club Managers and Score Magazine.
My education includes a bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph, where I majored in Hotel and Food Administration, as well as professional management certification from the Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM) and the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA).
With many years of practical golf club management and eight years’ consulting experience, I’m able to transfer my skills and knowledge to my students by facilitating on-line learning sessions through Selkirk College.
