Born and raised in Castlegar, Linda went to Castlegar Primary, Twin Rivers Elementary, Kinnaird Junior Secondary School, Stanley Humphries Secondary School, and then to Selkirk College for two years after that. Linda transferred directly into UBC's Honours English program, graduating with a BA (Hons. English) in 1988. Working several summers at Celgar as a lab tester and pulp grader, she returned to the Lower Mainland to complete an MA (English) from SFU, taking two years out to work full-time in the Finance Department (CEIC) for the federal gov't of Canada in Vancouver.
Linda graduated with her MA in 1993, and then the first job offer that came was from Selkirk College in her much beloved hometown. Linda thought she would teach for a while before starting a doctorate, and aftertwenty years of teaching at Selkirk and chairing the School of University of Arts and Sciences for a three-year term (2010-2013), she has finally started that doctorate with the University of Liverpool, studying higher education while also continuing to teach full-time. She anticipates completing this degree in 2017.
