My restaurant career began in the Front of House.
My teaching career began in the Middle East, where I taught kindergarten using an English curriculum, and learned Arabic from my students.
I took my Culinary Arts Training at Okanagan College, making the Deans’ List.
I’ve worked in hotel restaurants, cafes, and winery kitchens in the Okanagan Valley. Besides working at Selkirk College, the most rewarding post I’ve held was in the Okanagan, as Kitchen Co-ordinator for the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society. The most technically challenging was in Salmo, as Crew Kitchen Captain for Shambhala Music Festival.
I’ve been performing relief and temporary contract instruction for Selkirk College since 2014, and have had the good fortune of spending a lot of time in the Transitional Training Program at the Trail Campus.
When I’m not cooking, I enjoy doing projects around my house, listening to music, and discovering my next favorite author. I also very much enjoy spending time outside, and walking trails with my 10 year old rescued canine companion, Brian.
I love classical French cuisine, but am also adept in the preparation of many Aboriginal, Asian and Indian dishes.
