Selkirk College, Attn: Marie Martin
820 Tenth Street, Nelson BC, V1L 3C7, Canada
As a recruitment specialist, Marie will bring in students who want to explore opportunities or follow their dreams; people who want to be part of the lifelong learning that Selkirk College provides and people who want to be part of the West Kootenay region. She will share all that Selkirk College has to offer with future students, so that the College can attract like-minded and talented individuals to join the super awesome community.
Marie loves being part of an establishment that shares the same values. She enjoys the youthful environment, and working together to create a better future. Marie looks forward to meeting future students from all over and sharing the Selkirk College story with them.
Before Selkirk College...
Marie worked in Human Resources for a health care company in the Lower Mainland of BC. While there, she recruited health care workers to join their team and managed the onboarding process. She also handled employee relations and worked to keep staff happy. One of Marie's favourite parts of the job was orientation day, when she got to present the company to all new staff.
Marie also worked for an optometry clinic in White Rock, BC, where she worked directly with patients in a busy clinic, making sure they were comfortable and at ease during the entire testing process. She also worked as a contact lens technician there, helped out with office duties including payroll and training, and implemented a community involvement program that is still going on today.
Marie loves to travel, and has travelled around Australia and New Zealand, Europe, Asia, North America, and South America within the last few years. Her husband and she have been professional travellers for a couple of years, and they love the sense of adventure. In 2013, the couple lived in Australia for seven months and loved exploring all the beaches. In 2015, they packed up their car with a tent and went on a four month road trip around the United States visiting all of the National Parks. They've trekked in Patagonia and got up close and personal with the glaciers and ice fields. They toured across the Bolivian Salt Flats in a jeep. They've rock climbed in Austria, ate Pizza in Italy, and have met so many incredible people along the way.
Marie also loves to run and hike, and loves work out videos.
