My husband and I brought our young family to the Kootenays, from Vancouver Island, in 2003. The West Kootenays has been a beautiful place to raise my sons and build our lives.
I joined the world of health care and education at Selkirk College in 2005. Since then, I have worked as a Health Care Assistant in residential care, Outreach Support Worker in Mental Health & Addictions, LPN in Residential Care and in a Care Coordinator role in Residential Care. My teaching experience began in 2014 when I joined Selkirk College as a clinical instructor for the HCA program. I am committed to the HCA program and the vulnerable populations the graduates and I care for.
When I'm not teaching, I'm learning. In 2015, I completed the Advanced Gerontology Certificate Program and earned a Gentle Persuasive Approach Coach Certificate. Currently, I'm enrolled in the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program and work in various Residential Care homes to stay current in both educational and hands on practice to bring the most relevant and up to date information to students each year.
