During the workshop, renowned guitar and piano teachers will focuss their teaching on piano and guitar accompaniment.
The week-long Fiddle, Guitar and Piano Camp will take place at the Selkirk College Castlegar Campus from July 8 to the 12. The camp is suitable for all levels of skill and promises to be a memorable week.
“This five-day camp promises to be another year of offerings that will meet a wide range of interest and skill levels,” says Gary Shannon, president of the local fiddle club. “There will be a little something for everyone and a whole lot of fun and great memories. Whether you are at an absolute beginner or advanced level, everyone is welcome.”
Evenings Feature Great Entertainment
There are classes for fiddle, guitar and piano accompaniment, plus a variety of workshops on related topics such as stepdancing, harmony, vocals, and What To Play When You Don't Know The Tune. In the evenings there will be events such as a family-friendly Old Time Dance, an instructor lead jam session at Millenium Park in Castlegar, a student concert and talent night and an instructor concert at Gyro Park in Trail.
The music is based upon East Coast Old Time Fiddling. Our primary instructor, Gordon Stobbe, is a Master Fiddler and Order of Canada recipient, who hails from the East Coast and instructs at workshops around the country. Several other first-rate instructors are joining Gord for our 2019 Fiddle workshop.
“This is a rare opportunity to hear some of the best fiddling and enjoy a fun old fashioned evening with the whole family,” says Shannon.
