In three events hosted on March 12 in Trail, March 13 in Castlegar and March 14 in Nelson, those with their sights set on post-secondary will be able to have their application processed on the spot and be conditionally accepted to the program of their choice. There is no admission fee and participants walk away with a limited edition Selkirk College hat.
Join Selkirk College for Admission on the Spot held in Nelson, Trail and Castlegar on March 12, 13 and 14. Apply for free, have your application conditionally accepted and take home a great limited edition hat.
This is the second time Selkirk College has hosted such an event and Recruitment Specialist Aimie Chernoff is excited to repeat this way of connecting with future students.
“We hosted a Admission on the Spot events last fall and were excited at the number of prospective students we connected with,” Chernoff says. “We are enthusiastic about again offering students in our communities a chance to lock down their future plans with us. We are also having a lot of fun handing out our free hats. They look fantastic and to me, they symbolize an exciting future secured by the students that walk off wearing them with a smile.”
People who want to apply will need to bring in their high school or post-secondary transcripts along with their current Grade 12 course registration form if applicable.
Not all programs are available for Admission on the Spot due to their competitive nature including Nursing, Geographic Information Systems, Rural Pre-Medicine and those requiring a portfolio. Applications for Nursing are now closed.
Students can apply to these programs at these events and those who meet requirements will receive an acknowledgment letter. Any student who applies to any program and does not bring their transcript or other documentation required will also receive an acknowledgment letter, showing what's been received and what needs to still be handed in to complete an application.
At each event, find out about financial aid to help pay for schooling as well as prerequisites. Admission on the Spot runs from 4 to 6 p.m.
