The annual Selkirk College Gala is a November tradition in the West Kootenay that brings together community members for a showcase of the stellar student talent in Nelson-based programs. The theme of Gala 2015 was Created By Community and it was one of the most successful ever with more than 270 people coming out to Mary Hall on the Tenth Street Campus to enjoy fine food, tremendous service and top-notch musical entertainment.
Appetizers, meal and dessert was prepared by students in the Cooking - Professional Training Program and was a wonderful feast. The service and room decor was provided by students in the Resort, Hotel and Hospitality Program and was a feast for the eyes. The evening was capped off with two sets of music from the students in the Contemporary Music and Technology Program (featuring alumna Kiesza) and was a feast for the ears.
Gala 2015 is an important fundraising evening for the college and this year's proceeds from the popular silent and live auctions will go towards a new scholarship fund that will mark Selkirk College's 50th birthday (which starts in 2016) and will provide a legacy for future generations of students.
