What Students Say

Selkirk College Geographic Information Systems Brian Port testimonial image
"I returned to school to further my Geographic Information Systems education after more than a decade in the geomatics industry. Selkirk's Advanced GIS program offered the latest in industry-standard software and tools, which is what I was looking for."
- Brian Port, Advanced GIS, Current Multidisciplinary Hydrographer - Canadian Hydrographic Service, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Government of Canada.
Lisa Janssen, ADGIS student
I chose Selkirk College for the cutting edge Geospatial Research Centre, its commitment to environmental stewardship and to be in the heart of the Kootenay’s. The ADGIS program challenged me to expand my career focus, test my creativity and push me in directions I didn’t know existed.
– Lisa Janssen, GIS Technician, Graduate. Current Columbia Shuswap Regional District.
I got a job with Map Graphics in Nelson—a position that eventually led me back to school to update mapping skills. In 2006, I graduated with a GIS (Geographical Information Systems) diploma from Selkirk College.
- Susan Cooley, Geographic Information Systems Program 2006 Graduate. Current Glass Art Business, Kootenays.
