Program Objectives

The Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College is a two-year diploma program developed to train musician performers for the commercial music and entertainment industry. The course of study is comprised of an initial core year after which students may select one of five program majors.

The curriculum includes individual instruction on guitar, bass, drumset, saxophone, violin, vocals and keyboards, as well as a solid grounding in music theory and ear training. Individual and group instruction and practice is offered throughout both years of the program. Jazz, pop and rock are the primary instructional styles.
