If you enjoy daily challenges and are interested in working with new technology, the Selkirk College medical transcription program courses are specifically designed to equip graduates with the skills necessary to meet the needs of the medical community for medical transcriptionists.
All courses in our medical transcription program are competency outcomes based and provide an environment and curriculum specifically designed to equip students for the real work environment in medical transcription.
All prerequisites and all medical transcription courses are offered online and may be taken through distance education with part-time and full-time schedules available. Students may choose to work on the medical transcription courses on site or off site. Students work closely with the medical transcription course instructors and other students even though they do not have a physical presence in the classroom. Working as a distance education student enables independence in choosing individual work environments. To achieve success, a student choosing to do the medical transcription courses online through distance education should be highly motivated and proficient in computer skills including file management, downloading, uploading, MS Word, email and internet browsing.
In the medical transcription courses, students transcribe authentic dictation with challenging accents and varying dictation styles. Students will learn how to produce mailable medical documents utilizing correct form and format with accurate content applying correct medical terminology within specified timeframes. The goal of this certificate program is to enable graduates to make the transition to the workplace with ease.
