Program Summary
This program is typically offered in alternating years with the Health Care Assistant Program. Currently this program is under a Provincial review and will not be offered in 2011-12. Please refer to the college website for more up-to-date information or contact an admissions officer.
Program Objectives
The focus of this program is to prepare experienced HCA’s to work as Licensed Practical Nurses. As an LPN, you will be a part of a dynamic health care team that works within a variety of health care settings with individuals across the life span who require support with health promotion, illness prevention and acute care interventions.
Career Potential
The APN program will prepare graduates with the ability to provide care in partnership with other health care professionals to selected clients chosen on the basis of acuity and complexity. The graduate’s acquired skill levels are vast, ranging in detail and involvedness. The LPN role is a sought after profession with possible work environments that included hospitals, residential facilities and community-based organizations.
