Gerontology
The focus of this versatile Certificate program is to give Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses specialized skills and knowledge that will help them promote health and independence in the aging cohort and critically assess physical, cognitive, social and emotional changes that may confront older adults.
The program meets the needs of nurses who seek specialized college certification, others who may be changing fields of nursing practice, and those who desire to take courses of personal interest. Course work and study will also help RN's who may want to write the Canadian Nurses Association Gerontology Certificate exam. The introductory course and some electives may be of interest to health or social sciences students and professionals seeking geriatric education. Students must complete 19 credits to attain a certificate in Gerontological Nursing.
