PTEC Bridging
Pharmacy Technicians in Canada have a new expanded role that has resulted in the creation of a new healthcare professional. Regulated Pharmacy Technicians have a new scope of practice that gives them independent authority and responsibility for tasks within the pharmacy environment. Current Pharmacy technicians must complete the bridging program and the evaluating and qualifying exams in order to follow the new expanded scope of practice and become Regulated Pharmacy Technicians.
Selkirk College is happy to offer these current technicians with an opportunity to achieve their goals in becoming regulated Pharmacy Technicians by offering 4 online bridging modules - Pharmacology, Product Preparation, Management of Drug Distribution Systems, and Professional Practice and/or PLAR exams that will move them forward to the national PEBC examinations.
For full details on Pharmacy Technician regulation in British Columbia please visit the College of Pharmacists of BC website.
Information on the evaluating and qualifying exams can be viewed at the PEBC (The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada) website.
In order to take any of the Bridging modules technicians must first be pre-registered with the College of Pharmacists of BC. Steps for registration are available from the CPBC (College of Pharmacists of BC) website.
