Esthetics
This 31-week program prepares students for careers as estheticians.
Students engage in a variety of classroom, and salon activities. They learn cosmetic chemistry and other theoretical principles of esthetics in a classroom setting before entering the salon where they perform cosmetic treatments including hair removal, massage, facials, body wraps, skin care, eyelash and eyebrow tinting, eyelash extensions, aromatherapy, make-up application, manicures and pedicures. They learn and practice adherence to rules of personal hygiene and grooming with due respect to safety.
Graduates of the Esthetics Program at Selkirk College typically find employment in salons and spas as estheticians where they specialize in the application of treatments that beautify the skin. Graduates possess the skills and knowledge to conduct themselves ethically, confidently and with deportment while providing excellent customer service.
Upon successful completion of this program, graduates are qualified to write Special Beauty Culture License examination as required by the Cosmetologists’ Association of British Columbia.
