Studies in Writing: not a bitter pill

From private sector professionals with twenty years of life experience to mainstream or alternative youth, the study and application of language and writing helps to make their stories accessible for everybody.

Communications is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and writers are the workhorses of that industry – Scientific Technical Writers, Speech Writers, and Editors hold the top paid jobs in the industry. At some point in the career of a Mechanical Engineer, Computer Scientist, Chemist, Anthropologist, Peace Activist or Biologist s/he will need to write effectively in order to propose a job, solicit funds for a project, or protest poor environmental practices. If blood is necessary to transfer oxygen around the body, writing skills are necessary to transmit essential ideas around the globe.

Graduates of the Associate of Arts Degree in English (Writing Studies) program or the Studies in Writing diploma program could pursue degrees in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or any other academic path with the confidence that they have acquired powerful language and writing tools.

Graduates could find work in publishing houses as proofreaders & copywriters, editors, or text writers for graphic designers. Speech, grant (fundraising), proposal, and freelance writing are also valued assets for any organization.

Studies in Writing is not a bitter pill one has to take in order to survive. It is a pleasurable and enlightening way to discover how to get your ideas onto the page (screen/monitor) and into the minds of those who can make a difference.
