Advisory Committee Proposal
Committee Purpose:
To provide guidance for the research agenda and related activities of the RIC Chair
Committee Objectives:
- Advise the RIC Chair and Selkirk College on economic development issues and related research and training needs
- Recommend specific research and training initiatives for the RIC Chair/Selkirk College to pursue
- Identify research, information or training gaps that should be addressed through changes in the priorities and practices of funding agencies
- Assist in work with funding bodies to obtain relevant research funding
- Facilitate transfer of research outcomes to organizations and policymakers
- Promote collaboration between the RIC Chair/Selkirk College and relevant community, regional and provincial policymakers and stakeholders
- Assist Selkirk College with the evaluation of the RIC Chair activities
- Promote sustainable development in the region
Membership (12 to 14 total)
a) Funders that have required, or have been offered a role on the Advisory Committee
- Local/regional government ( 4 participants, 2 from each of the 2 Regional Districts
- Columbia Basin Trust (2 participants, 1 West Kootenay, 1 East Kootenay
- Real Estate Foundation (1 participant )
- Credit Unions (1 participant)
