Student Access and Support Services

The Department of Student Access and Support is proud of the superior level of service it provides to current and prospective students. We care about students and are committed to helping students achieve success by facilitating access to post-secondary education, as well as supporting students while they are studying at Selkirk College.

CPT and Exam Invigilation Services - Exam invigilation services are available for Selkirk College students and also students studying at other institutions. The Computerized Placement Test (CPT) is required of all students applying to Selkirk College. It provides a basis for advising students on appropriate program or course choices, thereby increasing their chances of future success. Online registration is available for exam invigilation services.

Aboriginal Services - The Aboriginal Service Coordinator provides support to all prospective and current aboriginal students and works closely with staff, students and communities to enhance aboriginal learners' participation and success rate in Selkirk programs.

Learning Success Centres - Learning Skills Coordinators provide support to students in three major areas: one-on-one tutoring, workshops, and peer tutoring.

Counselling Services - Students may opt to see a counsellor for a variety of concerns regarding career and educational planning, and personal issues.

Selkirk Trauma Assistance Team (STAT) - provides an organized, timely and supportive approach in responding to the aftermath of a traumatic incident that could affect the well-being of students and members of the college community.

Disability Services - Disability Service Coordinators provide a variety of services to support the educational goals of students with documented disabilities.

College Success Online - Whether you are fresh from high school or returning to education as a mature student, it is always a good idea to brush up on your study skills. This site offers you practical advice as well as handouts and quizzes on how to have a successful college experience.

Early Alert - Early Alert is an online referral system that enables instructors to identify, within the first 5 weeks of a semester,  students who are facing challenges in their courses or programs and provide appropriate and timely support.
