Early Alert
Selkirk College is committed to student success. Early Alert is an online referral system that enables instructors to identify students who are facing challenges in the first few weeks of their courses or programs. By providing timely intervention, small issues won’t turn into problems.
These challenges may include one or more of the following:
- Personal issues
- Financial issues
- Health-related issues
- Work-related issues
- Transition issues
- Academic issues
Students referred to Early Alert will be contacted by e-mail and asked to meet with a member of the Student Access and Support Department. The student will then be connected with appropriate support services or resources.
Early Alert is available for the first 5 weeks of the fall and winter semsters. At all other times, students may be referred directly to student support services: Counselling, Disability Services, Learning Success Centres, Aboriginal Services, Financial Aid.
For more information, read the information for students and faculty or e-mail earlyalert.
The Early Alert Referral System will be open again for the first 5 weeks of the Winter semester. E-mails sent to earlyalert will not be answered until January 2012.
