Born and raised in the West Kootenays, Spencer achieved a Liberal Arts Diploma in Creative Writing from Selkirk College (2019), and a B.A. in English, Film Studies Minor from the University of Victoria (2021).
As a freelance journalist, Spencer's creative work has been published in Thrasher Magazine, Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine, and The Malahat Review. Spencer is also a videographer, and has had his films "Waltz" (2018) and "Velvet" (2021) premiere at Croatia's Vladimir Film Festival. Spencer is also the upcoming 2024 BC History Magazine Writer in Residence.
