STUDENT INFORMATION
How many kids can attend?

Why should we encourage our students to attend Experience Selkirk Day?
The event gives high school students an opportunity to learn more about their community college, explore the educational options they have right here at home, meet instructors, and have some FUN.
How do we get students to register?
There are a few ways to encourage students to register:
- Distribute the promotional material – posters, post cards, and registration forms to grade 10 and 11 students.
- Promote the benefits – a chance to explore post secondary education options, meet instructors, explore their community college campus, free lunch and prizes – including $500 tuition vouchers!
- Invite the Educational Recruitment Coordinator from Selkirk College to speak to your students directly about Experience Selkirk Day
- Post the event on your local “broadcasting” system

TRANSPORTATION
Who is responsible for transportation?
Each school is responsible for getting their students to the relevant campus, and for picking them up at the end of the day.
How will I know where the students are supposed to be dropped off?
Once students register in their prefered courses, Selkirk College will provide you with a list outlining who goes where.
What time should we get to the campuses?
We suggest you arrive at 9:30am – this will give your students time to register and enter the draw for great prizes.
What will happen when we arrive at the campuses?
When you arrive in the morning, there will be a greeting table set up. At that point, students will receive a name tag with their course selections on it. They will be encouraged to put their name in the draw to win prizes, and will be provided with a morning snack.
As a teacher / counsellor, what will I be responsible for?
Teachers and counsellors will be responsible for ensuring students are dropped off at their correct campus in the morning, and that everyone gets back on the bus at the end of the day. Some supervision may be required throughout the event. An evaluation form will be handed out at the end of the day, as the students leave on the bus. The teachers and counsellors will be responsible for gathering completed evaluation forms and sending them back to Selkirk College.
