High School Contests at Selkirk College
Each year Selkirk College invites regional high schools to register its students for the Selkirk College High School Contests. These contests are for exceptional regional high school students in Biology, English, Chemistry and Mathematics. Top prizes awarded include Selkirk College tuition waivers, smaller monetary prizes and gifts
Getting your students involved is simple:
- Teachers in each subject choose contestants based on their grades.
- The contests will be held in the high school during the last week in May.
- Tests will be sent to the participating high schools electronically, with students having one hour to write each test (1½ hours for English). Students may participate in more than one discipline if they wish. The invigilator in each school will then return the tests to us by mail for marking.
- Based on availability, a Selkirk College faculty member will attend each high school award or graduation ceremony to announce the winners and award the prizes.
The contests are open to the top four students in Grade 11 and the top four students in Grade 12 in each discipline.
