I chose Selkirk College because it allowed me to pursue a hobby/future career while still leading my BC outdoors lifestyle in a small cozy town.
Since graduating the program, I worked for a year in construction before attaining my current position as a Timber Framer at Spearhead, here in Nelson. This year I will also take another CNC operating course through the MIDAS lab in Trail.
My time at Selkirk College prepared me for using the power and hand tools in the shop to cut joinery and assemble timber frames. The course also taught me project planning and time management skills.
My favorite parts of studying in the Fine Woodworking Program at Selkirk College include:
- being in beautiful Nelson BC
- great shop with all the tools
- fantastic, knowledgeable teachers
- Selkirk College has a great arts community
