"Selkirk’s hands-on approach gets you out of the classroom and into the field more often learning the practical skills required to succeed in this industry."
I graduated from Hope Secondary School in 2009 and the following fall I started the Recreation Fish and Wildlife diploma program at Selkirk. I choose Selkirk because of the smaller class sizes and lower tuition fees and when combining the West Kootenay’s endless outdoor recreation opportunities, Selkirk is the place to study and play.
Selkirk had a huge influence the direction my career has taken because my instructors had me ready for the job market when I graduated.
I am currently working as a Senior Park Ranger with BC Parks (Second year in this position and third year with BC Parks). I plan to continue my career with BC Parks with the longer term goal being to move up to an Area Supervisor position and eventually beyond.
