"My experience in Creative Writing classes at Selkirk College was a very positive one full of valuable lessons which have stuck with me since. The small group workshops were incredibly beneficial to my own writing, and most importantly they taught me how to read other people's writing critically and objectively, and how to give and receive feedback in a constructive way. I honestly believe that If I had not taken Creative Writing in my first year at Selkirk, I never would have written a poem in my life. Thanks to a professor (thanks Almeda!) who saw a poetic flair to my prose and convinced me to try my hand at poetry, I found my passion. Since graduating from Selkirk in 2010 I have gone on to have poems published in three different journals, completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at Simon Fraser University and am currently interning at Room Magazine, where my workshopping skills are put to good use."
