President's Office
Welcome Message
Welcome to Selkirk College. We are excited that you are considering becoming a student with us and being part of our community.
Selkirk College offers over 60 programs at the certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or degree level that prepare you for careers or further study, and will inspire you for a lifetime of learning. With support from our employer advisory committees and through a wide range of transfer agreements, all our programs ensure relevant and rewarding learning experiences. Our award-winning and internationally recognized faculty and learning support staff are committed to your personal, professional and academic success.
I have worked at Selkirk College for 28 years and what has always inspired me about our college is our focus on students, our dedication to excellent teaching, our attention to quality programs and services, our collegial sense of purpose as an institution, and our commitment to the sustainability of our many communities. To me, this is what makes our college successful.
Campus life for us is a beautiful rural setting in a spectacular mountain environment in Southern British Columbia; a friendly small town atmosphere; and a welcoming supportive college. Our small class sizes, great teachers, focus on student success, affordable tuition and student housing provide for an unsurpassed college experience.
If you are an Indigenous learner, our Gathering Place at the Castlegar campus is here for you to feel a respectful welcome, to celebrate your traditions, and to connect with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit learners from many different communities and traditional territories.
Through the work of our Mir Centre for Peace, the Selkirk Geospatial Research Centre, the Columbia Basin Rural Development Institute; with work study placements and partners abroad; and our other applied research activities, we are finding more and more ways to serve our communities and provide students with learning and life experiences that are aimed at inspiring and changing our world and that build remarkable futures.
Please take a few moments to browse our website or to contact our staff. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at Selkirk!
