When Do I Need to Apply?
Selkirk College Open Enrolment - Most programs accept applications 12 months before the start date. Acceptance to these programs is based on your application date and completion of program admission requirements.
Selkirk College Competitive Entry - Where programs are designated as competitive entry both the opening and closing application dates will be posted. Completed applications and documentation must be received within this timeframe. Application closing dates may be extended at the discretion of the college.
Wait lists - Wait lists are maintained for our high demand open enrolment programs. Periodically, students will be required to confirm that they wish to placed/remain on the wait list.

Educational Planning Tools

The BC Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT) is responsible for the facilitation of admission, articulation and transfer arrangements among the colleges, institutes, and universities in BC.

Meet Our Admission Requirements
In order to attend Selkirk College you must meet the admission requirements for the college and for the program you wish to enrol in.
- Have graduated from a BC Senior Secondary School or equivalent, or
- Be 19 years of age or over at the time of application, or
- Be under 19 years of age but have a written recommendation from your Secondary School Principal

First-time applicants may be required to take the College Readiness Tool (CRT). Please refer to your acceptance letter to determine if you need to take the CRT.
Program Admission Requirements
All programs offered at Selkirk College have established academic requirements that must be satisfied by students seeking admission. Program academic requirements are listed on each program’s web page or can be viewed on our Program Admission Requirement Chart. Some courses are listed as 'or equivalent' for a complete list of course equivalents view our Equivalency Chart.

Fill in Application
You may apply online through Apply.EducationPlannerBC, the Post-Secondary Application Service of BC. When you first log in, you will create a user ID and password.
- You should save this information in case you need to apply again in the future.
- If you have a Personal Education Number (PEN) you will need it for the academic information section.
- You will also need to pay a non-refundable application fee, payable by credit card to Selkirk College.

Please Note:
- Students must fill out an application for each program they are interested in. An application fee is required for each program you request admission to however only one set of transcripts are required.
- Students must re-apply when returning to a previous program of study. There is no application fee for returning students into the same program.
Submit Transcripts and Documents
Along with your application, you should include your secondary and post-secondary official transcripts. If you are currently enrolled in secondary school courses, please provide an interim Grade 12 transcript with your application.
Conditional acceptance may be granted to students who are unable to provide official transcripts or supporting documentation at the time of application. Students must meet the stated requirements to be officially accepted into a program or course.

Once your application, application fee, and supporting documents are submitted you will be contacted by Selkirk College outlining your next steps including details about the College Readiness Tool, interview, questionnaire, portfolio submission and/or an audition as required by some programs.
Transfer Credits: If you have attended another post-secondary institution you may be approved to have the credit from courses completed at that institution transferred to Selkirk College to meet course prerequisites or to be applied against graduation requirements.
