Engineering
This classroom actvity/presentation combo will offer your students a hands-on engnineering activity followed by invaluable insight into different rewarding engineering career pathways.
Students will start by working in teams to engineer the tallest tower they can build using straws, pipe cleaners and paperclips. The tower must be strong enough to support the weight of a golf ball for two minutes. This exercise will allow us to further dive into how engineering can help solve society's challenges and what that means for potential careers.

Law & Justice
This interactive classroom presentation will offer your students the opportunity to discuss the concept of "Access to Justice" and the shortage of legal professionals in rural communities. Not only will students gain a general undertsanding of the types of services legal professionals provide and the career paths which exist in their profession, they will walk away with knowledge about legal challenges which face rural communities across Canada.
Understanding the current state of rural "Access to Justice" will leave your students inspired and excited about the potential of pursuing a career in the legal profession and beginning that journey at Selkirk College.

Professional Cook
Dive into the culinary world with a Selkirk Colelge Red Seal Chef! This hands-on workshop will allow your students to understand the history of Sushi, how it evolved in North Amerca and the story behind each key ingredient.
Students will learn about the endless career possiblities of a chef and how the industry is currently showing high demand for trained chefs.

Rural Pre-Medicine
This interactive classroom presentation will shed light on the reality of the doctor shortage in rural communities and underrepresentation of Indigenous and rural learners at medical schools in Canada. Through the presentation students will earn about how Selkirk's Rural Pre-Medicine program is one initiative aiming to address some of these challenges.
Students will come away with learning pathways to becoming a medical professional and how Selkirk College can help achieve their dreams.
