Hi! My name is Marita and I am passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and encouraging others to do the same! In the past I taught many fitness/yoga classes, and built an online membership website to offer home exercise programs. I still provide online workout and nutrition programs, but am now focused on working at Selkirk College as a Student & Campus Life Programmer, and at The VegHealth Institute as a Holistic Nutritionist. I love to be outside in nature - hiking/running/biking/x-country skiing - and also value relaxation/meditation and social time with friends and family.
I am a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (200hr) and CFES Certified Group Fitness Instructor who has recently graduated college majoring in Physical Education & Coaching. I enjoy teaching others to learn more about their body through movement education, mindfulness and multi-dimensional wellness. When I’m not teaching, my time is spent exploring the outdoors with my St. Bernard puppy, cooking vegetarian meals and learning about traditional medicine.
I have been teaching weekly Yoga classes in Nelson since 2010. My journey in the healing arts has paralleled my exploration of the mind body connection through Yoga asana and Vipassana meditation in Canada and India. In 2010, I completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training inspired by the Iyengar method under the guidance of Hart Lazer at United Yoga Montreal.
My Yoga classes weave together an exploration of postural alignment, breath awareness, and heart-centered meditation. I offer dynamic Hatha Yoga and relaxing Restorative Yoga classes, accessible to all levels. I am also a BC registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine offering services in Acupuncture, Herbology, Tuning Forks, and Massage. I love to dance and enjoy hiking in the pristine beauty of the Kootenays!
My yoga classes would allow you to deepen the connection with yourself by enhancing your awareness with your body. Slower flow to increase your flexibility and allow your body to relax. I'm a French Canadian who fell in love with the mountains four years ago. Always looking to push myself and reach higher summit. You'll find me ski touring, rock climber or camping in the middle of nowhere. Can't resist a plate of bread and cheese served with good wine.

Susan Williams is an intuitive yoga teacher who brings creative transitions, breathwork, and meditation into her classes. She took her 200 hr training with Bambu Hot Yoga in 2018 and has been teaching and continuing to study ever since. Her classes are infused with sensitivity, choice, and focus on regulating the nervous system so students will leave the mat feeling strong, balanced and renewed. Susan is an art therapist with a background in trauma-informed yoga and she is driven to teach by her desire to share this powerful practice and bring transformation and healing to her community.
