A series of workshops are being held prior to the Talent, Passion, Participation Employment Conference to help students and employees prepare their employment portfolios and build confidence before attending the conference.
Prepare Effectively to Meet Potential Employers
Facilitated by Myriam Spencer on Thursday, May 17 from 9-12 pm on the Castlegar Campus. Room TBD.
In this workshop you will have the opportunity to learn about the ‘traditional’ vs ‘non-traditional’ job search and how the non-traditional job search can have significant advantages for job-seekers with disabilities. As well, you will have the opportunity to learn about how to prepare effectively to meet with potential employers and to let them know what you can offer them.
Learn how to develop a range of resources to let employers know about you and your skills.Have the opportunity to think about interviews with employers as ‘conversations’; learn about the different types of interviews, and how to make the most of these conversations.
Work through a job posting with other participants to put what you have learned in this workshop, and from your personal experience, into practice.
Share experiences with other participants, ask questions, and brainstorm strategies for landing your next job.
