Equivalent Clearcut Area (ECA) estimation: A Workshop for GIS Foresters and Technicians
The estimation of ECA is one of the most important tools to understand forestry impacts in watersheds and is used to guide forest development planning. The estimation of ECA is also subject to many uncertainties and, depending on assumptions made and data used, the end result may not accurately reflect the actual level of forest disturbance in the watershed. This workshop is intended to provide guidance for GIS foresters and technicians in undertaking ECA estimates for forestry. We will cover the science behind ECA and address many of the questions that are faced during the process of ECA estimation. The use of LiDAR Canopy Height Models will also be discussed.
