Kay worked in the Human Services field for 32 years before she started teaching at Selkirk College in 2005. Her background included work in early childhood education, alternative education settings, child protection, and family and children's services. Her specialty area is Addictions and Mental Health with many years of experience as an addictions counsellor; in policy and program development; and in training and education.
She holds a BA in Communication Studies from Simon Fraser University and an MA in Policy and Practice in Health and Social Services from the University of Victoria.
Currently Kay teaches in the Mental Health and Addictions Associate Certificate program and in the Rural Pre-Med program at Selkirk College.
